New Delhi: Indian food and beverage giant KFC and food startup Kitchen Runner are joining forces to launch in the US in the first major venture in the country to offer online grocery shopping.KFC India, a global brand and distributor of Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, will start with two stores in New York, while Kitchen Runner will launch in New Jersey, said KFC India CEO Ashok Kannan in a statement.
Both stores will be open 24 hours a day and in both cities customers will be able to order from the KFC app and receive a receipt of their order, the statement said.
Kannan said the launch of KFC-kitchen runner is a natural evolution of the company’s vision to serve Indian consumers.
“We want to help Indian consumers get the freshest food possible at a competitive price and have built a global network of over 2.2 million customers who buy their food in our stores across the globe,” he said.
The partnership is a further step for the company in expanding into the US.
The KFC brand has already expanded into the States, with restaurants in New Orleans and San Francisco, as well as KFC outlets in Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, New York City, and Philadelphia.
In 2015, KFC opened a store in Los Angeles.
Kwanlur Chawla, managing director and chief operating officer of Kwanlir Chawlas group, said the new stores are expected to open within the first quarter of 2019.
KFC has stores in Singapore, Taiwan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, he added.
“This will be the first US store that offers a fully online grocery experience.
The KFC team is confident that we can successfully launch both stores in the United States,” he added, saying the KwanLir ChawanLungs restaurant group plans to expand into the United Kingdom and Ireland.”

Kranlur said Kwanlaras aim is to make the food of India accessible to everyone and the company is looking forward to working with the US government and others to help India achieve this.
“Kwanlarases aim is for the Indian food consumer to be able have a choice of groceries available online in a manner that is easy, safe, and affordable,” he noted.
Kwinlur added that the KFFC chain is expanding in the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Denmark, and the Kwinliras brand will continue to be available in the UAE, Singapore, Japan, Mexico, Mexico City, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Australia, China, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.KFFC is based in a 1,200-acre compound in New Delhi’s Gandhi Park.
Kwanaras food is sourced locally and sourced from all over the world.
The company also plans to open a store at the New York Stock Exchange in 2020.
